I don't know what's happening outside... I don't know what happened to the rest of the crew... I don't know anything anymore. I've been in this place for... weeks, probably over a month at this point. I'm too scared to go outside; I can hear zombies growling out there and I don't want to find out how many there are...

... Let me back up a bit: my name is Jason Miles, formerly a cook for some restaurant, now just a survivor like everyone else. I had been doing quite poorly for myself until I joined up with a decent crew of people who graciously offered me supplies and protection. We'd been making our way through this town when we found this abandoned bunker stocked full of canned food & water. We decided to set up a temporary base of operations within it and went on scavenging runs around the place to stock up on additional supplies.

Up until that point, I'd never felt particularly... safe. Paranoia had me checking corners every five seconds while I was outside, even with the crew around to protect me. The bunker was the most secure location I'd been in since the day the apocalypse started and when I first entered it, I never wanted to leave. Thankfully, I got to do the least scavenging runs out of all of us. Never did I realize that would come to bite me...

Now, about a day before my crew went missing, one of them came back from a run and told us they'd seen a military convoy rolling into town and suggested that it could be a source for some good military-grade weaponry and more if we were careful enough. I didn't like the sound of that idea, since we already had a decent supply from our previous scavenging runs, but unfortunately the others had already been convinced. They headed out for it the next day and left me to keep watch of the bunker. Really wish I had tried harder to convince them to leave it alone...

They never returned. My only source of protection. And now it's been over a month. Damn it to hell. I know I have to go out there at some point; running low on food & water, but... I'm too afraid... afraid of dying. I don't know what to do. The only world I've known for this past damn month is this gray stone bunker and I'm getting sick of it. It feels more like a prison than a safe haven now... a prison I've trapped myself in.. and yet... it's better than the outside...

... No. It can't end like this. It shouldn't end like this... okay, I've decided: I'm going out tomorrow with as much as my pack will allow. I don't know what's waiting for me out there, but I'm ready for it. We worked hard to get this far and I'm not going to throw it all away. I'm going to find out what happened to my crew. If you're reading this, I wish you good luck and that you don't meet the same fate as my crew. For now, farewell.

- Jason Miles

I'm inspired by it. I wonder what's worse between starving to death slowly and dying quickly eaten by zombies or by one bullet.

Hope that they are still alive. That something is blocking them from returning to the bunker. Like a huge horde. Lack of supplies to make it back. Imprisoned.

*A small sheet of paper lies nearby*

"The military is long gone. It was never there. Those were bandits. Luckily, I killed em. I hope you are doing fine."
